‘Theatre is the realest of all art forms—it’s actually happening right there in front of you for the first and last time in that particular way on that night that you’re watching it’ (Stone, 2018).
The stage at any theatre is in constant flux. Shows come and go on a regular basis. This project focuses on not only what goes on behind the scenery but also on the scenery itself. It features the props, lighting, and theatrical equipment that the creative and technical team combine in the making of a show. They are a kind of theatrical flotsam and jetsam; some travel with the show, some belong in the venue. The unique combination of these elements is never repeated by another production.
Taken during the move of Theatr Na nÓg’s powerful production of The Fight from Swansea to Brecon. It displays the miscellany that connects to form the backbone of a show.
The images are dedicated to the many directors, designers, stage managers, wardrobe, production, and technical staff whose invisible work creates the look and feel of a show and enable the onstage action to flow seamlessly.
