Broken technology is left to rot. Mobile phones are imprisoned in drawers, alongside stockpiled headphones and ancient remote controls for technology long since sent to land fill. Batteries are abandoned to their fate whilst household goods drain the natural resources of the once fertile land.
The links to how raw materials are sourced and the effect on the eco-system have been ignored. The landscape is irretrievably changed to obtain metals and minerals, instead of mining the broken or dated technology that overflows from the houses of Wasteland’s residents.
Wasteland tells the sad story of the destruction of the environment without thought or care. It is a warning to the world of what the future may bring.
Created using deception of scale, everyday items and unusual locations to make the viewer think twice about what they are seeing.
These images were constructed using open source software Blender 3D, on technology that will one day be recycled.
The results of this ‘E collage’ are intended for use by the many organisations that attempt to highlight the issues surrounding electronic and electrical waste. They can be used for print publications, poster campaigns or on conference displays. They can also be utilised for guerrilla protests.
